Lithium Race: Tesla Gigafactory Could Be Twice As Big As Originally Planned, County Officials Say.

Looks like Solar Power exponential growth and huge uptake of Powerwalls in just few first weeks has made Tesla already to expand size of its Gigafactory. Tesla Model X will bring more excitement to EV space and will drive the demand for electric SUV, without any competition in this segment with very high purchasing power.

Lithium Energy Storage: Better Than Grid Parity - Warren Buffett Signs Lowest Cost Solar Ever 3.87 ¢/kWh.

Tony Seba reports that his prediction about the dramatic fall in cost for Solar Power is already happening! Warren Buffett's NV Energy signs what may be the lowest cost solar power ever in US with 3.87 ¢/kWh! This exponential growth in Solar will be the next catalyst for lithium storage technology with Tesla, Mercedes and Samsung leading the way to the mass market of home energy storage. Now Joe Lowry's projection of 150% growth of lithium demand in the next ten years can be very consevative!

Joe Lowry: Global Lithium Projection Of Supply And Demand Growth For Next Ten Years.

"Latest initiative from Obama administration will help to bring Solar Energy to the low income communities all across U.S. International Lithium will become part of this picture with our J/V projects in Ireland and Argentina financed by our strategic partner Ganfeng Lithium from China."

Elon Musk And Tesla's CTO JB Straubel Share Their Vision On Energy.

"Elon Musk and JB Straubel speak at the Edison Electric Institute annual convention in New Orleans about Tesla’s role and vision for electric energy. Elon responds boldly to the defamatory LA Times article and doesn't mince his words, calling them assholes. Pure bliss."

Elon Musk will make sure that everybody will drive electric cars in the future powered by Solar Power. International Lithium and our partners Ganfeng Lithium will make sure that we have enough lithium to make this dream happen.

International Lithium And Ganfeng Lithium: "The End Of The Lithium 'Big 3'.

"Joe Lowry has published a very interesting article about the lithium market, major producers and rising Chinese powerhouses in lithium industry. You can find now more details on International Lithium strategic partner Ganfeng Lithium. Apple Electric iCar and Warren Buffet BYD move into energy storage to chase Elon Musk with his Tesla Gigafactory bring Lithium back onto the radar screens of investors now. Read more."

Tesla Gigafactory Could Be Twice As Big As Originally Planned, County Officials Say.

"The Tesla “Gigafactory” currently under construction just outside Reno, Nevada, is billed as the world’s largest manufacturing facility for lithium-ion cells. Photographs of the site that have trickled out so far show a building that looks pretty massive indeed.
But now a report claims the Gigafactory could be even larger than expected. Comments from officials in Story County – where the factory is located – indicate that the battery plant could be twice the size originally planned.
During a presentation at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, Story County Commission member Dean Haymore said Tesla purchased 1,200 acres of land adjacent to the current Gigafactory site, effectively doubling its size. The carmaker is looking to purchase an additional 350 acres, Haymore said.
Tesla originally planned for a 10 million square foot building, but Haymore said the company now plans to create 7 “blocks” that, if completed, would balloon the building’s footprint to about 24 million square feet.
It’s unclear how this apparent change will affect production, the majority of which will be devoted to the Model 3 electric car. Tesla is counting on the economy of scale afforded by such a large factory to achieve the Model 3’s promised price point of $35,000 before incentives.
Some Gigafactory capacity will also be devoted to lithium-ion battery packs for the company’s new energy-storage business, which will market packs to be paired with solar power systems for homes, businesses, and utility companies. Tesla may also continue buying cells from Panasonic’s Japanese plants.
Panasonic owns a small stake in Tesla, and is partnering with the carmaker to set up the Gigafactory. In addition to providing funding, the electronics company will send workers to the site this fall to begin installing equipment.
According to the Story County Commission presentation, Panasonic will also bring 14 other companies to Reno to work in some capacity on the Gigafactory project."
